My Story

Hi, I'm Shirley!

I was born and raised on the sunny island of Malta, a tiny spot in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, and I am now living on its serene sister island of Gozo. I enjoy reading all kinds of books, mainly fiction, as well as writing short stories and articles. I am also particularly capable of detecting errors in written text, whether I am reading a book, thesis, document, or menu. 

For over 24 years, since 1994, I flew as cabin crew with our national airline. This career gave me the opportunity to travel, meet people, be of service to them, and ensure they arrived at their destinations safely. But the time came for me to make a change. Writing has always come very naturally to me, and this, together with my ability to zero in on mistakes in written text, led me to embark on my freelance career as a writer and proofreader.

I have always been open to helping others, and I am very focused on detail and organisation. My previous job as a flight attendant taught me how to provide quality service in a fast-paced environment, find practical solutions to tackle any problems that cropped up inflight, and create a satisfactory experience for my clients from take-off to landing.
